Onomastica romanzesca medievale. Il nome chapalu fra testo e immagine

Abstract

The article examines the possible etymologies of the name Chapalu, a fantastic animal mentioned in the Arthurian romances, which is already in the texts of medieval Welsh Literature. After reviewing the various occurrences, the article concludes in favor of a generic name, which came to indicate a proper name, possibly designating a lynx.
