Onomastica letteraria nella denominazione dei trovatelli tra Rivoluzione, Restaurazione e Risorgimento

Abstract

This study illustrates the contribution of literature to the naming system of foundlings in Turin between eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. As regards first names, Petronio was very important. It was often given to foundlings as middle name and subsequently came to indicate their illegitimate birth. As to surnames, literature had a minor role, but was present mainly in the use of names of ancient authors, the titles of works and the names of characters.
