Abstract

In Alberto Arbasino’s prose, proper nouns are employed in a variety of ways. By focusing on Ritratti italiani, a recent book by Arbasino on about a hundred famous Italian personalities, this paper investigates several facets of proper nouns from a grammatical point of view, paying particular attention to their semantic and syntactic properties.
