Abstract
This paper deals with the relationship between different ethnopoietic genres and the type of toponyms and anthroponyms that appear there. The aim is to examine how the ethnopoetic genre conditions the type of toponyms and anthroponyms that appear in the narrative; in other words, how certain types of folk tales contain toponyms and real anthroponyms, and others, instead, contain unreal or invented ones. My analysis will include speculations on the reasons behind these differences and the mechanisms for constructing invented proper names.
