On the basis of the main theories on names, developed in the twentieth century, in the article names and place names recurring in some works of Vasco Pratolini and Libero Bigiaretti are analyzed. Specifically Cronache di poveri amanti, Le ragazze di Sanfrediano, Metello by Pratolini; Carlone and a text of Il mio paese by Bigiaretti are examined.
