Role of Editorial Bodies in the Production Process

For the editorial production process, the journal relies on three distinct bodies: the Editors-in-Chief, the editorial board, and the scientific committee. The Editors-in-Chief are responsible for overseeing the entire editorial process, ensuring the transparency of publication methods, and composing the issue summaries. As established in the ethical code, the Editors-in-Chief ensure that all parties involved in the review and production process comply with their obligations. They are also responsible for the initial evaluation of proposals, which are judged based on the completeness of the provided materials, scientific integrity, and compatibility with the journal’s scientific objectives. Only the Editors-in-Chief can decide whether to initiate the review process, bypass it (in very rare cases, due to the exceptional prestige of the author), or reject the proposal outright.

The Editors-in-Chief collaborate with the editorial board to oversee a transparent review process, ensure the linguistic adequacy of contributions, and verify their compliance with the journal’s editorial standards. Editorial board members cannot participate in the peer review process as reviewers, except in rare cases where they are considered the foremost experts on a given topic. In such instances, which the Editors-in-Chief and the editorial board strive to limit, other editorial board members will manage the communication with the author while protecting the identities of both the author and the reviewer. If the proposal is published, any such coincidence will be disclosed on the first page of the formatted article.

The scientific committee’s role is solely to uphold the scientific prestige of the journal. Its members are never involved in the editorial production process of the issues. If they are asked to serve as anonymous reviewers, the editorial board handles the situation as in other cases. The artistic direction is exclusively responsible for the journal’s layout.
