L'esequie della Luna: i nomi del «balletto verbale» di Lucio Piccolo

Abstract

This study focuses on the importance and the particular use of names in Le esequie della luna by Lucio Piccolo, published for the first time in «Nuovi Argomenti», n. 7/8, in 1967. The purpose of this research is to reflect on the meaning of Piccolo’s work starting from his use of names, and to identify literary references to other works. The aim is to show the importance, for the interpretation of the text, of such talking-names as «Dona Sospiro», «Alfesibeo», «Pasqua», but also the significance of the absence of names (some characters are referred to only by a title, written with a capital letter, such as «Viceré», «Villano»).
